Green Heron with his tongue out

[Tuckerjr]

Was hanging out at a friends pool & I think the Green Heron saw an oasis. He perched in a pine next to the pool. Luckily I had my 200-500 in the car

Very nice.

Unusual shot. I believe this is the first I have seen with the tongue showing.

Cool! The timing really, really makes this shot!

Nice! Very common to see Green Herons do this if you spend a lot of time with them.

Very nice shot. He's a cool looking bird.

Nice shot but looks like it focused on the chest/tree branch across its feet instead of the head

Cool! I've never seen this before, but then I've never seen a Green Heron in the flesh either.
