Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
So, again as a newbie here and to photography as a whole, I thought I would share another picture of mine for some feedback on it.

So I decided to try out "low light" situations and see what results from them. Shot with a Nikon D3100 with an 18-55

Lamps by Gagan the Dragon, on Flickr

Again I am new, so help me learn and grow! One of the main reasons I joined the forum was to get feedback and advice from other photographers. I was (and still) using Deviant Art for that but I never received feedback, and when I requested some I always got either A) Trolls or B) People who just said everything was uninteresting with no actual advice on what to improve on. So I am very discouraged about all my pictures thus far...

Another question, when you started off with photography, what was the first picture you remember taking?

Very cool!

I like the picture - it is visually interesting but what do you like about it? What made you want to take the picture? I look for some kind of emotional tie to a picture so trying to put that together with the picture.

:) Yay advice!

Well for me, one of the biggest things is that I found the lamp surreal and obscure in it's shape which is something I love (Surrealist paintings by HR Giger anyone?) I also love the colour green, it is my favorite colour! It's one of my favorite items that is in my room, so my emotional attachment to it is that. It's looks interesting, favorite colour, favorite item!

I think for me, this is me trying to get away from my facebooky shots I have of people. I want to photograph weird, interesting, and appealing things, and I think this is the one photo I have that showed me that I can do that if I try!

I do like the picture - I think the lighting is good, the curvature of the lamp is different and the tonality and saturation work. I do more 'people' photography so I am always looking for that emotional tie and I see why this picture would work for you although it's not quite evident within the picture of "Why". I like the angle, too.
