green screen options

Brainstorming on green screen options. Is it possible to project a green screen onto a screen behind the subject and that later becomes a valid, useable type of image to manipulate, the same as using a fabric green screen? I mean I know the concept of it is simply to use a color that can be pulled out. So if that's the case would a green image being projected behind the subject (not on the subject) be a valid way to accomplish this? I have a rather large white pull down screen. I was hoping this white screen could be reusable as a green screen IF I simply projected a green image onto it. I mean in theory this would actually make for a great green screen because there would be no creases and it would be very evenly lit. Let me know any thoughts as to why this might work or not.
