Hello everybody, I'm Brian, from Atlanta. Photography has always been a hobby of mine, but I had never really tried to improve my skills until recently (Purchased my first DSLR). I am hoping to learn a lot of new techniques from the users on this forum to hone my skills to create works of art, rather than just a snapshot.

Thanks!

Welcome to the site.

Welcome to the party! I spent over a decade of my life in the ATL (just outside of it, anyway--near Stone Mountain--ever heard of Avondale Estates?) Went to high school there, moved back to my hometown after getting married.

TPF is a great community to accomplish exactly what you are talking about--I've grown more as a photographer in the short time I've been on TPF than I'd ever managed on my own.

I haven't heard of Avondale Estates, but my in-laws live in Loganville.

Loganville is a good bit further east. Avondale Estates is just east of 285. But it's little wonder you've never heard of it. Even today, the population has yet to reach 3,000--it was considerably less than that when I lived there. At that time, it was also the smallest incorporated city in the US (by area) at 1.1 square miles. :D

It also has the dubious distinction of being home to the very first Waffle House, in 1955. Which, I hear, is now a museum. Seriously--a Waffle House museum! :lmao:

Welcome aboard.
