I well remember those battles. Up north we have only these tiny little black ones, and not many of those. Easy to control and not the biting kind. An embarrassment, really, to the rest of their tribe.Ah spring the south and the fire ants are swarming. Been in a daily battle with them for the past week. Treat one mound and two more pop up. They're in the reproductive winged state so the little sucker's can expand their territory rapidly.
The red ants are likely to win a round or two. I don't miss them a bit.
