What's new

The Coffee House

Ah spring the south and the fire ants are swarming. Been in a daily battle with them for the past week. Treat one mound and two more pop up. They're in the reproductive winged state so the little sucker's can expand their territory rapidly.
I well remember those battles. Up north we have only these tiny little black ones, and not many of those. Easy to control and not the biting kind. An embarrassment, really, to the rest of their tribe.

The red ants are likely to win a round or two. I don't miss them a bit. 🐜
Good luck and godspeed. :biglaugh:

Suddenly on Sunday all the system failure lights started cycling through on my dashboard. Car was operating fine so I suspect an electrical or computer issue. Sigh. It’s in the shop so I’m stuck at home for the day. Trying to avoid chores so I’ll be farting around online or puttering in the garden.

Here are a few pics from Princess’s graduation last week.

 Congrats, Princess! And to mom, for getting through her college years!

Nice set of images.

Back in MD. Coming off the Delaware Memorial Bridge, a truck pulling a boat in front of me nicked a construction barrel. The barrel went into the travel portion right in front of me. I couldn’t avoid it and the sucker got wedged under the truck. I ultimately had to back one tire onto a curb to get it pulled out. A big shout out and Thank You to DEMDOT Police for the assust.

I think that justifies a 2” lift and 37” tires. 😂

Way to go, Princess! Don’t drive your mom too crazy while you’re at home.

PITA! Glad you made it back in one piece!

I had the truck in for service and had an alignment done. I doubt the barrel was the cause of any issues; milesge was 82,000 when I dropped it off.

We ordered a dehumidifier for the MD house to run while the inside is being painted. Today’s plan is to get as much loaded into the trailer as possible before the rain starts. I have to keep some space open for a loveseat in MLSIL’s basement that we want in ME. She doesn’t want the two couches but thinks the smaller loveseats would be useful. A small dumpster cones to MD house tomorrow so we can start tossing the lighter stuff. Younger, stronger crew coming next week fir the heavy junk. Work crew comes Saturday to measure then we’ll finalize the contract.

MLW turns in her County laptop, phone, ID, and keys tomorrow afternoon. She’s going out with s bang, though: working 25 hours OT at the Watch Office 5/31, her last official day. They’ll have to buzz her into the building .

Congrats to Mrs Bear on her retirement! Moving two households into one is a lot of work! Will be worth it in the end. Good luck with the upcoming move.

I've planned to make a time-lapse tonight from about 21:45 to 02:15 (a bit over 4 hours) because the last forecast I saw was clear overnight and into tomorrow. But it's almost 16:00 now and the whole day has been overcast. 'Doesn't look good for tonight. . . .

Are you looking for northern lights tonight?

Not Northern Lights (too bright around here). I was hoping for a good group of stars in a near black sky. I just checked the weather again and it's not going to happen. This has been the story for weeks now: I plan according to a forecast, set aside the time, and then in the last 12 hours it all changes and I get nothing. Now it's pushed back to June 2. Very frustrating. . . .

Spring weather can be so unpredictable. Once we get into summer the skies usually settle down.

Thank you. MLSIL got her latest med shipment so she has decided to go back up with us. She already misses the kitty.
