Hello! I arrived here for the first time this morning and decided to sign on to this forum since the last photo-forum I was on went "belly up" a while ago. I am a complete amateaur but I love to take pictures. I posess an HP 945 camera which serves my purpose very well (since I don't really have one) and being a fairly frequent traveler, I have the opportunity to take pictures of different places around the world. Here is a sample of a picture I took in Switzerland: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a68/Cogboot/b6f3742d.jpg

Switzerland is the sort of place where you do not have to be a good photographer in order to take a good picture, it is such an incredibly photogenic land!
Anyway, I am glad I popped in here, it looks like a lot of sound advice is available and I look forward to the learning process that will help me improve on my totaly amateaurish passion.

Regards
J

Welcome. No question that Switzerland is photogenic. I still enjoy seeing the photos I made of the mountains at Grindelwald. Please post some shots if you get a chance.

Heya J and welcome to ThePhotoForum.
I am sure this is THE place for you to a) show your own photos for some general comments and/or critique and to b) ask all the questions to you might have in order to get answers - plus you may, of course, always help people out in answering to THEIR questions, too!

welcome to the forum :)

.. so another traveller :)

Thank you all for your words of welcome. I do travel to some fairly remote places but these are usualy work-related travels that have me spending most of my time in meeting rooms and project locations etc. But I do get the occasional opportunity to take a few pictures.
Here are a few more samples from my Swiss collection, as I mentioned.. you just can't go wrong over there. What an incredibly beautiful country!

This was taken in the small picturesque village of Brienzwiler (or something to that effect). The lady on the crossroad with her back to the camera is my wife:

The Alps taken at St. Gothard pass:

This might be Interlaken, I am not sure, still it is is stunning testimony to the dynamic scenerey in that country:
