Grey Weekend

Have not seen the sun in soo long, I still had to get out for a bit on the weekend. I did a bunch of short hikes, but it was really gloomy, and the lighting was horrible. I managed to grab about 50 shots, but nothing felt right. Anyways...these are a few I captured.

I found these at the Seaton Hiking trails, in a place we nicknamed the Dead Forest, ...cause all the trees are pretty much dead.

These is a beaver dam near here, but it must be too grey for him to come out either.

.......but they got great teeth. I found a bunch of these.

Things like this always amaze me. How objects like this end up in the middle of nowhere.

I was waiting for this to come alive.

Gheesh..even the birds at the Lynde Marsh, were not around. Only this guy.

Hopefully I can get out next weekend, and maybe the sun will come out.

great stuff chiller, i particularly like 1, 3, and i think 5 the most. good job making the best out of a crummy-light kinda day! :thumbup:

I feel understood.
Greyness all over here, too. No sun in ages.
Only that thing that (horrors!) you waited for to become alive (aaargh!) would not be around here (brrrrrr! The Cold Ghost, whoa!). Be glad this ghost posed for you so nicely, now you managed to take a wonderful portrait of him!

Lovely bird pic, too... and that chair... could an angler have brought it?
I have never seen neither a live beaver nor their work. I don't think we got them here...

I took a couple new grey pics, too, today.
But they are sooooooooooooo grey.... :roll:

nice pics. Really like the woodpecker, since its a cool bird and you captured it well.
I tried to shoot a woodpecker today, but the sun was shinning from behind it. So i couldnt get a good pic. Ah well, better luck next time

Thank you everyone for your awesome comments. I appreciate them all.
LaFoto... The "creature" really amazed me. To get the shot I really wanted, I would have had to wander out into the lake, so I changed my mind pretty quick on that. The chair is in a valley, but pretty far from the creek or road. I think maybe somebody might have had it near the creek at one time, and eventually it found its way to this spot. It sure was beat up though.

I hear ya Carl (he...he...guess who?)

been really gloomy in T.O latley, and i've been itching to get my 100-400mm still in transit

but as soon as it comes, rain, snow or shine i'll be out!

Love the series and the icicles are awesome!

just love the ice shot..that is just so intriguing...

all are really nice, and the beaver hut ( where he lives...) is really detailed...bet if you hang around when it warms up a bit, you would see him...
i had a friend who had one as a pet a few years ago...they are so cute as babies...and really cute as adults...they hibernate somewhat in cold..not really asleep as just hang out in the hut...thru the summer, they store green sticks and things in there to eat during winter... so he was probably munching while you were freezing... you should see inside one of those huts, they have tunnels, little side rooms....and larger rooms...they are really natures arkie-tech....( if they live here in arkansas, they are arkie-tecks..)

good job chiller.... your shots amaze me...with very little light, you achieve what i cant in great lighting...

I was gonna hang around the beaver dam more, but my dog was getting a bit ...impatient with me. Dogs make horrible photography companions...sometimes
