I think there's a good picture here, but this doesn't quite cut it. Either go for a plain, un-cluttered background, or clutter the background in a way appropriate to the subject, say an over-flowing ashtray, a bottle of whisky and a few glasses, some picks scattered on the table, that sort of thing.

I'll have to retry the shot using the tips you gave me. I never gave thought to how much a background could make or break a picture. Thanks for the advice!

A similar attempt (headstock shot), incorporated a backdrop this time. Though, I feel as if this one turned out even worse than the first one did, just because of the that the florescent overheads were reflecting at.
