This tree is referred to locally as the Gumdrop tree. It's a popular sunrise subject through the winter months while the branches are bare. Low tide this morning so not much for reflections and skies were partially clear. I'll have to go back again. I did get a nice gradient of the pastel glow about an hour pre sunrise. Almost a full moon behind me helped a bit with illuminating the foreground.

These are gorgeous shots! I love this tree - what a perfect crown, and the bare leaves really show it off. Never heard of a gumdrop tree before.

What's that structure here? Looks like a private home that got lucky with this view. :)

This sky is just amazing. Great work!

Yes that is someone's house. There are a bunch of private homes hugging the coast all along the South Shore of Massachusetts (North Shore too for that matter). Amazing views all along this stretch of the coast and it's not as rocky as Gloucester and Maine so not a lot of cliffs obstructing the views of sunrise. This tree is well-known as the ‘Perfect Tree’ and also the ‘Gumdrop Tree. I found online that "the Perfect Tree has been pruned to its perfect shape and may be an American Linden or possibly a Copper Beach"

G'day Sharon

Quite a visually amazing image / set of images with #1 being the one most striking for me
I don't know about the comment 'that it has been pruned' as the tree seems to me to be a bit too large for someone's ladder to reach the upper bits!

However if I were picky for cc .... then I would remove the bird nest as it catches my eye and draws me to it as though it's a 'blemish' Thoughts??

Love it! #2 for me.

I would think they have a tree specialist come in with one of those bucket trucks or something similar. I don’t think anyone’s got a big enough ladder.

Thanks for the cc, I appreciate it. I Agree 100% on the nest. It does distract. If I decide to print this, I’ll try to remove it.

Love it! #2 for me.
Thank you!

I agree, this is a gorgeous set! #2 is particularly striking for the colors in the sky, and it has the entire silhouette of the tree.

Nice set. That's a nice tree to have around.

Nice shots.... :encouragement:
thanks…

Thanks. I wish that other tree to the left wasn’t so close to the perfect tree. There would be so many more good compositions!

Beautiful images.
Thank you.

Great set! I especially love the layers and colours in the first image.
Thanks very much.

Nice set. That's a nice tree to have around.
Thanks! It’s a very popular sunrise spot in the winter.
