I just upgraded to a Canon S95.

Super nice little pocket shooter. Pricey, but worth it IMHO.

Having a viewfinder would be a big plus for me but these are hard to find. Also I wouldn't get anything less than a 5x zoom.

The panasonic point a shoots are very nice little cameras. Don't know what the current models are, but many have 9x or 10x optical zoom.

Anyone use the Canon G12? I have my eye on that.

I know a few years ago when I used to periodically work in the camera department at best buy everyone was all over the g9, predecessor to the g12 I assume. If I remember correctly it gives you manual options, but you gotta dig through some menus to get to them instead of one button controls like a dslr.

pretty sure all the g series have a M option on the dial.
