Here's the thing. You really have a lot of talent.

Definitely enough to make a go of it as a pro if you want to.

But as of right now you do not possess the people skills to make it happen.

Being the smart ass is fun in high school. I know because I see a lot of myself in you. But it won't get you very far after graduation.

I am a professional music producer. I have a lot of talent as well. I'm not going to name names because I want to remain anonymous, but I guarantee you have listened to my work.

When I first tried to make it in the business I hit a brick wall pretty quick.

People didn't care how talented I was because I made them feel stupid with my smart ass remarks. Only after one of my mentors took me aside in a high dollar session and told me to shut my f**king mouth if I ever wanted to work in the industry again did I begin to see the light.

Every business is a people business. You sell yourself first and your abilities a pretty distant second.

Maybe you want to sit in your room and be a smart ass on the internet for the rest of your life. If that's the case, forget everything I've said and continue to make fun of anyone with less talent/knowledge than you.

If you actually want do do something real with photography, then grow up.

Thanks man. Im stoked to read more and more stuff on here that says it how it is. Thanks for the talent thing man, makes me glad to read that stuff. You say I dont currently have the skills to make it happen. While ill agree i dont, i dont believe its because of why you think. Me in person is about 99% different from how I act on here. IRL i dont actually make myself out to be a good photography, i dont think im ready skill wise to even start selling sessions regularly. Im hard to people on here but im about 10 times harder on myself when it comes to photography. The only reason I got any better was when i stopped posting here, start posting at a site that was about as raw as it gets and they pretty much told my stuff was horrible and what i needed to start grasping to make it right. But thanks again for calling me out, i love that stuff.

Thanks for taking it how it was meant. I understand what you're saying about having a different persona on the web but give this some thought.

I have made literally thousands of dollars from being a nice guy on the internet. Case in point:

A recording newb posts a "stupid" question on a recording forum frequented by some pretty heavyweight pros. Several people with tons of knowledge respond with unhelpful replies in a tone similar to your persona here.

I then respond with answers to the newb's questions in a polite respectful manner.

Said newb then hires me to produce their album.

Was the music fantastic? Not even close.

Was the vacation to Belize paid for with fees from 4 days of work awesome?


HELL YES.
