I saw some on-line listings in Detroit...most suggested some minor fixer-upper things were needed, like Benelli 12-gauge autoloader with extended magazine, under-barrel flashlight mount, plenty of high-base 12 ga. #4 BUCK rounds, trained rotweiller or pit bull pair, electrified yard fencing with razor wire toppers, aux. gas-powered generator and multi-floodlight setups, direct 24/7 security cams with direct-to-offsite-server security camera footage storage, so on and so forth.

Most of the Bay area. I once looked at houses in Sausalito and had to contain my laughter when I was told the prices. It's good to be a renter.

they got you either way. either you pay more to live where your job is that pays well, or you commute and add on more time to your day sitting in a car. some people seem to have a apartment where they work, stay there in the city or wherever during the week and have a house too just to avoid the commute. The u.s. system wasn't set up for efficiency it was based on cheap fuel and counting on the highway system to allow for urbran sprawl.

And your alternative, is to pay less to live, make less money and live in the woods or in the ghetto.

The last realestate bubble and crash showed real estate isn't as much a hard asset as people thought. Throws another huge wrench into the mix lots of multi million dollar homes were slashed by half in price over the period of a few years. People considered their house a guaranteed asset and had a majority of their wealth in their homes, apparently not so guaranteed. Towns and cities need price values high to collect the mil rate tax on them, hence detroits budget issues.

Use 00buck instead of #4. Fewer pellets and a tighter pattern, but it will stop anything it hits. :thumbup:

I was going to a local camera club meeting last night in my town and drove through a woody stretch where a new housing development was going up.

The sign gave the name, a brief description and then 'from the low 940's.'

Is there any conceivable situation where 940,000+ for a house is considered 'low'?

I'm guessing that to the folks that live here what you paid for where you live is a "madly ridiculous price". It's all relative. To a good portion of the world what you have spent on camera gear, the computer you use to get on line with and what you pay for internet access is ridiculous. While you and I may not have the money to pay for a house like that, there are those that do.

My next door neighbour's place is on the market for $975,000. Needless to say, I hope he gets it, because it means that my place is worth more. A real estate agent suggested that I flip my place for the possible profit. By the way
houses that are in the country are a lot larger with more property than houses in urban areas for the same price.
