Have you used the S45 or S50

I am looking for a new digital camera (the one i use now is my mom's, has NO featres other than turning flash off, and is only 2MP)... so I was looking around and found the Canon powerShot S45 and S50 to have a ton of the features I want.

Now my question is: with either of these cameras (they have the same features, just that the S45=4MP and the S50=5MP) can you manually focus as to allow me to do depth of field? I really want to be able to do that sort of thing becuase I think it really makes a picture much more dynamic with depth of field. Thank you
