HDR tone mapping - Streets of New York

My fist stub at tone mapping and HDR. New York summer trip. Pictures taken with 5dMKII and Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L my best walk around lens. Pictures edited with Photomatrix and Photoshop. Comments and questions welcome. Is it overdone or not?

I like them. They have all the nice qualities of HDR without the overprocessed look. But that's just me and I really don't know anything about HDr.

I'm usually not terribly fond of tone mapped images, but this one really caught my eye. Nice job.

I just got done viewing your set on flickr. I really like them. There is a section on the forum for HDR maybe you might want to post there. So I am assuming that these photos are all tone mapped and not actual HDR photos correct?
There are a few on your flickr set that I think could use some work but for the most part I really like your processing and colors.

I love them...I love the look of HDR although my one real attempt was on a subject that it made no sense as I learned when I posted the results. On these outdoor scenes I think it looks great and you got some interesting angles as well

Thanks a lot for all the comments, for most part those were tone mapped images. It was exercise to get familiar with Photomatrix, to get the hdr look without over processing the images. It is not that easy as it looks like, you move few sliders and image is over saturated very easily, or totally without colour.
It was my first time with Photomatrix, tone mapped images are nice but true HDR was my ultimate goal, dark areas do not have noise and they look much more natural.
I'm practising before Urban Exploration shoot we are planning I was going to have portrait session but I do not have "rough" enough faces\models to apply some of the filters, it could be interesting, but at this point I'm not there yet, better more practice on architecture shoots

I'll be the detractor. The first one is best, but IMHO the rest are a bit overdone for my taste. I like HDR as well, and have done some, but I think theses are a bit much. Good photos, though. How many exposures did you combine?

I love these shots in terms of composition.. they are great shots!

I am growing weary of the cartoonish HDR look though, HDR has it's place and I use it. But I just think people should try and keep some realism, thats the beauty of photography.
