I am currently studying journalism and would also like to wonder into the intriguing world of photography! As a beginner, do you guys have any recommendations for 'beginners cameras'???
Is an D3000 abit advanced?

Personally, and not basing on the image quality but on the built/control quality, I'd say not to look at d3000 but at least a D90 or used D80.

I would study all the makes and models.everyone will have a different perspective on what one to purchase.

you should be able to get a decent setup to learn on with $500.

check out used gear at adorama, or keh.com (or of course your local craigslist, but i would refer to the 2 prev sites for accurate pricing)
