Hello everyone,

Happy to be part of this forum already. I am just a beginner to the world of Photography, still learning many things. Following are few of my recent shots from my Canon EOS 550D. I just have the 18-55mm Kit lens with IS and another 75-300mm, both from Canon. I am still studying more about lenses and photography since I am not sure what kind of Lens I needed :P ..,

PS : Share your experience or likeness. Correct me for improvisation. Thank You. :)

#2 I find to have the most potential, but still the composition is not right. #1 is way to underexposed (and out of focus?) #3 and #4 don't do anything for me, and not sure what that yellow tint in the very last photo is. Looks like some serious smog or something. These are just my opinions and not everyone will think the same as me.

#1 - Underexposed and out-of-focus...but the composition is there...

#2 - Love the orange, but the white cloud to the right is distracting...you cut off the pole at the top and there is another extraneous pole at the bottom the could be cloned out...I like the composition you had in mind though

#3 - Boring...its part of a tire...good try though

#4 - Its tilted to the right too much...it has the strongest potential IMHO, a simple tilt and crop would fix this...

#5 - The yellow tint gives this photo an aged-look...which is kind of neat...this has the second strongest potential...again IMHO

Keep shooting and visiting here and you'll work wonders with that camera of yours...

Agreed....except the tire shot keeps growing on me. Also, I couldn't get past the clipped top of the bridge and the blown out vertical column in #4.

I like the composition of #1, but as was said above, it's underexposed. A longer shutter speed would get the rocks exposed properly but also smooth out the motion on the water nicely

For #2, I think it would have looked better if the horizon was a little further up, between two of the light poles and not cutting one off (about the 1/3 mark up would work)

#4 needs a little bit of perspective correction so that the rear bridge support is vertical, but otherwise it's a good striking image.

/thoughts from another complete newbie, so take them with a grain of salt :)

I like #2 the best although composition not quite right. The others are ok and have some things that could be fixed as well and for the most part I agree with everyone above. The only one I dislike is the last one. It's just kind of flat looking without much to focus on.

Im jumping on the bandwagon with #2, you have a good eye and good potential for photography. Keep it up!

For me, #2 is the standout of the bunch, with the last one a close second. All are nice, though.

Your comments are helping me to realize my mistakes and thus it will be helpful to improve my skills. Next time onwards, I will post the details of the shots as well. Once again Thank you everyone :)

# 1 Picture is actually in Focus, Since I have reduced the size of the picture it got blurred, may be digital error while compressing :P..., I have other shots of the same with enough lights too.., But then I thought this one looks darker and kind of horror :P..,..,
