True, copyright infringement is low.
Have I already been categorized in that group, when using one of my friends' FB pictures she sent me, taken with a cheap cellphone, will never file for official copyright with US government, and she's happy when I forward her proud picture?

You would be better off mugging a nun than posting someone else's picture on this forum. Don't worry about it, mistakes happen with new people all the time. It has been remedied so let's move on.

It turns out the situation has actually happened a few times: Person takes photo. Person posts photo to FB. Friend sees photo on FB, downloads it, and posts it elsewhere (even here). Person found out friend did this without permission and is not happy about it. Both people think the other person was 'unreasonable'. Resentment is harbored. Friendship is strained. Blah blah blah.

To avoid a lot of unpleasantness, most photography forums (including this one... but this rule is by no means unique to TPF) have a rule that you can only post a photo if it's your photo.

For photos which aren't yours, they ask that you just post a link to the location where the photo can be seen.

Busted friendships may result, but has zip to do with it.

TPF and other US based forums have that rule because it is required for a web site to qualify for copyright infringement suit protection under the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) and OCILLA (Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act) statutes, which are part of US copyright law.

In other words, so member web sites can't be sued for infringed content uploaded by members.

Back to the original question, auto white balance, shoot a few frames and see what they look like, pick up your shutter speed and f-stops and play with the iso to keep the shutter speed around 500th sec. You may find that it's not going to look as red as you think when you look at the images, if it is just do a little colour correction in post. Don't over think what you are doing, look at it all as a learning experience and have fun.

If you do keep posting on this forum, and I hope you do, you will find the same people have little to add, other than they like to up their post counts with pointless comments.

Are you going to Paris Ping?? Found this - ITTF Events - and should have said to cite the source when it's published, on a website, etc.



The apparently official trailer (much of it isn't in English) on YouTube seems to have footage from other arenas from past tournaments (in the first half of the video mostly), but they all seem to have that red flooring.

It seems to appear as different shades of red depending on the angle and lighting for various shots. Notice the guys wearing vests with cameras at floor level? the photographers who are credentialed, you might get some ideas from seeing what they're doing especially if you're new to photography and shooting sports. Looks like this would be fun to see, and to photograph, hope you enjoy your trip.

And maybe it would help to have guidelines regarding posting photos displayed in a way that's more noticeable and easy to find on the website since not everyone is up on copyright, fair use, sharing photos, Facebook terms/usage, etc. or may know what the procedures are on here.
