Help me make sense of this bag!

I ordered a new Nikon Bag for my D60.

When I got it...all the inside pieces were not attached. There are four total.

I assume these two pieces make a divider for additional lenses. However the main divider does not have an extra lump on the bottom left like I see in photos. As you can see there is extra on the main divider, where it attaches to the wall on the bottom side. Why isn't there just a velcro there like on the other side of it?

But...what are THESE for?

All I can think of, is this one is for the lens body to rest on?

And the last piece is to divide even farther?

I have that same bag. My comments are:1. The first picture shows the correct or "default" division.2. The extra divider in picture 3 is to secure the body and lens by putting it over the lens. This way the camera won't juggle when you lug it around.3. In picture 4, the other extra divider is to support a smalller lens for the same reason above.Lastly, you can also put a folded flash unit below the body and lens. You can also put a piece of cloth for added protection.

Ok. On the bigger compartment on the left, I have my D3100 with grip. Under the kit lens is a folded flash unit. The divider as shown in picture 3 is used to secure both the cam and flash from bouncing when I am carrying the bag. On the upper right compartment, I have used the remaining divider to secure my 200mm lens and on the bottom divider, I just put in my charger and diffuser (still don't have a prime yet ) AFAIK, Nikon intends the bag to carry a cam with lens and two others in the main compartment. Hope this helps.

That can't be right. The piece over the lens on mine has 3 sides of Velcro. Certainly There would be a purpose of that. It's on the longest side.You can see in photo 2.

Now I see, that part didn't come in with mine as it's a bundled bag. You can however follow the setup in this link.

It's the older model hence the yellow sidings but notice the divider beside the kit lens. the third divider makes space for a third lens. Or better yet, go to Walmart, Target or Best Buy to see for yourself. The bag is sold in all three stores.

I think I have it figured out.

The smallest piece goes over the lens and prevents it from moving.

The one with 3 sides of velcro, the only thing I can think of is that goes on the bottom, and gives an extra layer of padding to the bottom.

1. Take bag and put on solid surface.
2. Put gear in bag. Figure out where you would like it.
3. Put removable/adjustable dividers around/under/over gear to secure it.
4. Close bag.
5. Put shoulder strap on shoulder and go shoot. (Don't forget to open bag to get gear out)


There is no rocket science to this. Everyone does not have the same gear or the same amount of gear. Secure it as you need and you are done. Those dividers can be used to divide items side by side. You can use them to create a compartment above a piece of gear to store two like pieces of gear. My 50mm is stored under my 85mm as I use the 85 more than the 50. As long as the gear you have is protected it is all good.
