Help! What camera do I start with?

Hello everyone!
I am new to all of this, I did take 2 years of photography in school but well I payed more attention to the cute boy next to me then the class!
I'm really interested in starting back up and need a few ideas on where to start as far as a good inexpensive beginner camera, lenses, editing program ect ect!
Price Range? well...INEXPENSIVE. I am a mother and wife of a soldier, money is an issue as usual but I need to find my happy place! LOL

You can learn and grow in the hobby better with a DSLR. Save up your money, look for a good used one, or borrow one, but that is what you should shoot for. Be warned, however, that will be merely the beginning of "wanting stuff".

What is your budget? - you enter the world of DSLR's at about 400$ new or 300$ used that is not very old...one could find cheaper used DSLR's though they might be worse then some new point and shoots of today.

If you're going new, get the cheapest Nikon or Canon DSLR that works best for you. Or, pick the new model that you want and then look for it used. Equipment doesn't improve your skill or vision. Photoshop Elements is a good starter program that will enable you to learn Photoshop at less expense. Lightroom is also good for beginners. It has a learning curve but enables you to do a lot without Photoshop.
