"Autofocus with servo" - "continuous focus" - "shutter priority" ... wow! What things there are in this big wide world...

My EOS 10D is notorious for these "back-focusing" problems with sports stuff. Could be my crummy glass though

I also usually manually select an AF point, shoot in AI servo and Av mode.

If you use a multi focus zone you will have more problems like this, that is why I use center spot focus so the camera is not trying to decide what area to focus on.
