Fiddleheads.... can get quite sick from eating those if they are not washed and cooked properly but they are very tasty.

Yes they are Fiddleheads & I never heard of anyone getting sick eating them.

I posted this to tease Bitter since he likes fiddleheads but says they are hard to find where he lives. Not surprising though, as they grow in flood planes/wet areas not cities. I picked a two gallon pail full on Sunday in a half hour. Like Asparagus, they are immature ferns & taste similar.

I had to go on Wikipedia to understand what fiddleheads are... thank you for having taught me something gastronomically new (here is not usual at all to eat it). Although we eat immature Butcher's Broom (again, name taken from wikipedia: for us is pungitopo = rat stinger).
