There's some potential here, but ..why are your pictures all so grainy and low quality? Jpeg compression is killing these

1 is good as far as catching the 'splash', but a lot of noise - high ISO? The others are bland and boring. Keep it up. Never had much luck with these myself. Good start.

i was wondering the same thing... i cropped the pictures and then 'saved as' in Photoshop maby it was in that process, i'm not to sure otherwise still learning.

thanks it took about 500 photos just to get these 5.
photo 1 details. F/5.6, EX 1/100, ISO-6400.
do you recommend taking the camera off AUTO ISO and set it lower? something like 200 to reduce the noise?

I'd use as low ISO as is available.

Nice comment mate. I love the fact that most of you guys and girls are able to critique without insulting the photographer. Thank you for that. OK Sorry off topic a wee bit but it really is helping me to analyze what you were looking at and see if I can see the same.

Cheers
Jim

No wonder why there are so much noise. Try to use the lowest ISO as possible. In these abstract photos, IMO it has to be real clear, crisp, and sharp. Good job, keep it up! I need to do one of these water drop photos.

JacJac - these do look nice! You have some potential with this set up. Just a few questions for ya:

1. Are you using a tripod or are you holding the camera by hand?
2. What focal length are you shooting at?
3. Anyway to get some more light on your subject?

My suggestion, grab some more light if possible, open your aperture and turn that ISO down! If you can get some more light - try shooting at a faster shutter speed - as fast as you can go if possible without underexposing things.

Great start though - keep it up mate! :)

Thanks,
I am using a tripod but had alot of problems with camera shake (if you zoom in with picture one you can see the light zigzagging) so i used the remote but then had the problem of only taking one photo at a time. I went through the types of modes and found the one where u can press it delays and can take upto 10 pics so that solved that problem (yup i'm very new with my camera and still finding all this cool stuff)

i'm not to sure about the focal length i really struggled with this one, I have just a standard lense kit and couldnt get a real closeup. I have a Macro filter but that didnt help me one bit major blur.

the light i struggled with too (seems like i struggled with the whole process lol) i tryed just with the overhead light in my kitchen (directly above) i used a torch from all types of angles and my on camera flash, These were about the only options i have.

Thanks for the advice i might give it another go with the low sun and try all this advice

I agree there are some real helpfull people in this forum but also some real nasty ones that i have read n other threads. But thanks for being so thruthfull without being harsh, Being verry new to the digital world i need the advice and need to know if my photos are boring in a nice way, If people were told their images were crappy in a real mean way it will only get them angry and maby even loose faith, At the end of the day every picture we take it a learning curve. :)
