I'm not a bird expert, I just shoot them :D

From what I'm told it's a White Tailed Kite. Found mostly in CA and TX. There's quite a few around these parts. They hover when hunting which makes for some dramatic shots.

Welcome aboard! That's a nice shot of a beautiful bird. I wish we had them, I would look forward to spotting and capturing them on a daily basis. They hover over their target like ospreys do so that's pretty cool, love it when they do that! Thanks for sharing and keep them coming.
As far as picture size goes I've always been limited to posting pics of up to 4 mb (2000 x 2000 or smaller). To save space on my computer I usually size mine at around 1100 - 1200 on the long side but if I get a shot that'll hold it's detail when viewed zoomed in 100% I'll go up to 1900 on the long side. With a pic that's not quite as sharp I'll go somewhere between 1200 - 1900, whatever looks best when zoomed 100%.

Howdy and welcome! Wonderful shot of a Black-shouldered Kite! Seek by iNaturalist is a wonderful app for identifying plants and wildlife. Looking forward to seeing more of your shots.

Hello and welcome. That's a cool bird you have in your area. Nice shot and hope to see more.

Thanks everybody!

Hi, I'm on the other side of the bay from you, in San Mateo.

Gary
Hi Gary,

I worked on The Peninsula for around 11 years. I know the streets over there better than my own neighborhood ;) I lived in San Mateo for a little while, but found a place I could afford in Hayward. It's quite a culture shock separated by a bridge.
