Hello,

I am new to the forum and to the "high end world of cameras" . I am currently using a canon 4 megapixel camera and a light box.

I just purchased a EOS Rebel t2i (I Know quite a jump up) and am just getting to figuring it out.

I don't know if I need a macro lens or not and if so which one? any help would be appreciated!

Do you NEED a macro lens? No. No one really NEEDS anything.
Would a macro lens help you in getting some more interesting close up shots of the jewelry? Sure.

Then there is the question of budget. How much do you want to spent? The newer Canon 100mm Macro is just under $1000. Spectacular lens! The older model is around $550 and a great lens as well.
A little bit more budget would be the Tamron 90mm macro, which sells for about $450

Keep in mind that the technical side of photography is usually WAY more about the lenses and not the body. Spend money on good glass before a good body

But before spending too much money, maybe learn the fundamentals of photography and make sure of your investment.

I am trying to upload pics. but it is not allowing me access

do you think i would need a macro lens to get the quality i am looking for?
