Hi, newbie here. just want to ask how to take this kind of shot?

hey guys, i'm a total newbie on the dslr world and still learning. just wanted to ask what settings and where should i take photos like this. i have a nikon d90 w/ the stock 18-55mm lens.

IMO - the color is awful. Just pose the model just like that and use a backdrop or a wall. Settings will be based on the available lighting so you would have to figure that out. You would probably want to shoot with a wider aperture (low f #) to blur the background (which might be hard with the kit lens).

FYI - I'm sure someone will mention this to you - its against TPF rules to post a picture you didn't take. You can post the link but not the image itself. I don't really care but I thought I'd let you know because some threads have gotten pretty heated over this issue.

A flash was used, not ambient lighting. Either the white balance was set wrong (intentionally or not), or the color was changed in post.

Either way, it's just a shot of a person on a plain background, using on-camera flash, with poor composition and color. Not something I'd want to emulate.
 
Loads of girls like that are to be found at Cyclops University! Commonly referred to as The College of The One-eyed Babes, it's located in Branchville, Tennessee. IF you go thee, you could find loads of pretty, one-eyed girls to photograph.
