So, I was able to shoot some good Hockey this weekend...I started off with the Danbury Whalers of the Federal Hockey League...a new professional league with teams in Connecticut, all over New York, and Ontario Canada...A CCSU alum now plays for the Danbury Whalers, and our paper decided to do a feature on him, so I was tasked with getting shots specifically of him, but I shot some other action too...C&C Always welcome.

I also got to shoot at the University of Connecticut's ice rink for the first time...Let me tell you, that this facility isn't large, but has some of the best lighting I've ever shot in for hockey aside from the Hartford Civic Center...

As always, all shots can be seen on my flickr: Flickr: Central Recorder's Photostream

Good shots in Danbury. It's a tough place to shoot. It looks as if these are from up high. That glass there bites. I can tell how that extra 100mm really helps out. I'm thinking about a teleconverter. The 70-200 is good but 300+ would be really nice n tight.

I'm assuming you used a grey card? Will you be shooting at rentschler field in February?

Nah, no grey card...all straight up.

Teleconverters can add length, but they also add F-stops, which you can't sacrifice in those conditions, in my opinion. 1,2,3, and 5 were the only ones shot with the 300mm, so it's definitely possible to get nice shots with your 70-200.

I will be shooting at Rentschler in Feb...I can NOT wait.

any way you can get another press pass? id love to shoot there. im a teacher full time so im deffinately planning on being there at least one day.

I'm hockey all the way.....I love love love the collegiate shots. Wow.

Wish the rinks around here had such good lighting.

You need a gray card or expodisc.
