There's currently a rapidly spreading fire near Hollywood right now:

I hope all of you members from Southern CA are alright. My aunt just called, and she's home alone and can't get her garage door open because all of the power's out. The fire's about a mile away from her house, so they and others need to evacuate. I'm really worried about her and other LA members, so I hope everyone's safe and sound!

They've called in four air tankers ... and the fire chief feels that they should do the trick. Interestingly enough I was right there on Monday taking some time exposures of downtown and the Hollywood sign.

Good luck to your mother, I hope she and all her possessions will be safe.

I´m in LA right now and it´s really strange that such a fire is burning in this town, 45 min. away from where I am. Hopefully they´re able to contain it and extinguish it. And I hope no one gets hurt. How is your aunt doing?

Thank you, although it's actually my aunt and my uncle.

Well, they've left their house and packed their car. The wind changed and the first house just burned down. I hope once again that everyone's okay!

Can you see it from where you are? It's right near my old house, on the very street practically. The news just said the weather's calming down a bit, so I really hope it stays that way.

no, it's too far away. I cannot even smell anything. Now they say it will take all night to put it out. Good luck to them.
