I'd like to do some general portraits for friends and family but I don't have a very big budget... I can't afford to spend much/anything on camera gear atm....

What would be the minimum lighting suggestions/needs for this and if so maybe instructions on DYI? I am not very "handyman" like... So the easier/more basic.... the better.

These are cheap at hardware store. If the lights are too harsh, just point it to the ceiling or floor.

Just about any light can be modified to get the job done.

You will learn from this as well. Try using white cardboard, bigger the better as reflectors outside.

Those builders halogens do the job well but get super hot, leave them off till you take the pic but set them up first. H
