I've been graciously lent some lighting equipment to play around with for the past month which I've just spent playing around with, keep in mind I have no studio knowledge.

Canon T2i
Canon 50mm f/1.8
Kino Flo Diva Lite 200
Arri 150
Reflector

There are several others I haven't gotten to editing yet so I shall most them as I finish, but I wanted to see what others thought so far.

Did you use continuous lighting for these, or strobes?

I think these are verging on greatness. Lighten them up a tad bit though. Very well-done.

I've been really having some difficulty with the ring light and kino flow being just imbalanced. Any tips or tricks? Or it's probably just the beast that is studio lighting haha

My main tip would be to give a bit more exposure. I really do like the look of #2 and #3. Not sure how you are determining your exposure, but I'd like to see more-generous exposure, with this same excellent lighting approach.

The last is great. I love the warmth, but agree with Derrel.

ETA: I took a crack at the last one.
Exposure: +1.64
Offset: +0.0183
Gamma Correction: 1.0

The glown highlight on the tip of the nose and the one of the bridge of the nose could be brought down with some slight burning.

I think I know what to do different for the next sets. My biggest problem are those smaller blow outs like Jowensphotos pointed out. Gonna try backing off the kino flo in distance but then increasing the light put out. I love how much I'm learning through just this playing around.

Definitely getting some good result!

The most effective kind of learning! IDK about you, but with moderate ADHD, it's hard to learn anything that I can't enjoy.

I really like these but I'm not familiar with the camera equipment listed above. Can you take a photo of this stuff and post it so we can see what you are using?

We used to use a defusing plastic material (cant remember what its called) but you could try grease proof paper on the arri, they are nice lights by the way Kino's are quite expensive

Rosco Tough Spun is one such material....affordable too...
