On a portrait point of view, I really like number 1. I would have never guessed he is homeless without the title. The eyes and shape are very intense, the subject is captivating and I like the depth of field used.
Number 2 is, for me, "unfinished" and annoying. I would have love to see what he was doing or trying to say with his hands but they're shopped by the frame. It could have been a very nice portrait with a bit of narrative here but this goes missing.
I don;t really do street photography and therefore can't really comment on this matter. I do like The Traveler's point of view on it though, what he says makes sense.
