My first owl pic and a great horned owl at that. It made it's nest (w/baby) in a man made osprey nest in someones back yard. I'll have to monitor them for better pics, baby progress, etc.

Alright Kirk, Wherever you are going to get wildlife, I WANT TO GO THERE TOO. Is this the zoo? Admit it! You're cheating aren't you!
I am NOT giving a like to this!

SCORE! :bouncingsmileys: Nice shot and congrats. I've still not seen one,but when I do, you can bet it will be at some ridiculous distance. :BangHead:

I see an owl regularly, around midnight, hunting at the edge of town, seeking its prey by the car headlights that dimly illuminate the shoulders of the road. But never in daylight.

Thanks! Bro, you are cracking me up over here! Those man made osprey nests are all over the place around here, they're usually on top of telephone poles but not always. This place is packed with animal life. I go out for an hour and come back with more pics than most people get in a week.

Thank you and it was that way for me, he was right about 30 yards away. (taken @ 600 mm) I'm thinking of asking the home owners if i can get on top of their roof to get closer and level pics of them. Looks like a mother and chick. I barely got the chicks head in a pic today.

Yes, they're most nocturnal. I've only had one ever fly close to me. It was close to twilight and about ten feet over my head with around a 5 ft. wing span. I barely heard the whoosh sound from it's wings which is what made me look up. It was very stealthy, an awesome sight so close up it was so majestic.

Congrats! And nice shot. You've inspired me to keep looking.

Thanks. I found that there's some at the Circle B Bar Reserve about 30 minutes north east of me and just below Lakeland, Fl. When this covid crap is laid to rest and the parks open I'm there. GL!

Very good shot......

Thank you, Jeff.
