Hopefully last question about lenses. THANKS! Ready to BUY!

There is no lens that will do all of the things you want and do it well. I shoot Canon, but I have a 100mm f2.8 for macro, 35mm f1.4 for walk around and group shot lens, sometimes 17-40 for really big group shots in tight places. There are a number of macro 50mm lenses, but they won't be wide enough for big group shots on a crop sensor. I agree with the others that something in the 17-50 range will probably work for you.

Thanks! Extremely helpful =) I think that's what I'm going with.

For crying out loud... here are some test results for some of the zoom lenses on your list.

Sigma AF 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM (DX) - Review / Test Report - Analysis
Sigma AF 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC (Nikon) - Review / Lab Test Report - Analysis
Sigma AF 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC macro - Review / Lab Test Report - Analysis

and one that you left off your list, but were asking me about:
Tokina AF 16-50mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX (Nikon) - Review / Test Report - Analysis

Aside from that, you can look here at photos that were taken with the lenses: Flickriver Lens Explorer: find best lenses for you - Canon, Nikon, Tamron, Sigma and many others
Just find the lens model you're interested in, and you'll see all sorts of photos taken by that lens. You won't know the skill level of the photographer that took it, but if you seek out the better photos, it will at least give you an idea of the potential of the lens.
