You really took the saturation out of that first one, didn't you? 
Not a fan of the B&W, but I've never been a B&W fan, so that would be why. Second one looks good. A little more cropped than I prefer, but I see where you've going. I think something between mine and yours may work great.

I like it after the edits, I like the bw edit on that horse since he has some highlights that look great with the bw
