Hot Heron Action

[TheNevadanStig]

Went back to the marina today after the snow/sleet stopped, and there were two if not three of the night herons hanging out.

Some great shots there! I was excited to see they were taken with the D3200, which I also have. Proves it's not the gear, but the eye of the photographer.

Some more great shots, you have access to some really cool stuff out there

Thank you! All taken with a $150 sigma lens to boot.

Thanks. There were three comorants there today as well, but they didn't feel like coming close enough. If the weather ever improves enough to hit the mountains, I'm really considering giving bear and cougar a try

Really great shots.

Well done, going great guns with these shots. Beautiful colours and good details. Love the eyes of those Herons you have, they are gorgeous Heron's.

All the best and nice going.

Danny.

I really like that first shot of the Night Heron; nice angle on it. They are such beautiful birds, and really fun to watch. Last year, I found a spot where there were dozens of juvenile night herons all trying to learn how to fish. I spent HOURS just watching them and taking pictures.

I'd love to get one fishing. Sadly these guys seem content to sticking to the rocks and chasing bugs. There is a great heron by the wetlands I go to on occasion that fishes and frogs, but I can never seem to get close enough to him for anything decent photo wise.
