Hot shoe to PC support TTL?

Hello fellas, I have a few questions. I bought a Hotshoe to PC connector and was wondering if when I use it, would it support TTL or is everything all manual?

Also, if the strobe triggers higher than 6v (so I can't use it on the 40D's hotshoe itself), can I still use it with a PC to hotshoe connector safetly? Thanks

You will not get ETTL through a PC cord. You need a dedicated ETTL cord. The good news is that there are off brand options that work great that are cheaper than Canon brand.

The Canon 40D PC socket and hotshoe are rated for 250 volts.
