Is it possible to create the illusion of movement in a statue in a photograph?

Back in the days before internet porn many people in Ireland saw religious statues move, I don't know why they taught this but they did:rolleyes:.

Anyway my my camera club next theme is "religious" and I was wondering is there a method of creating such an image.

I don't have any day time filters for long exposures so thats out.

You could try multiple exposures with the camera moving (on a dolly) in between shots - this will only work if you have a uniform background e.g. completely blue sky, as the background would move also! Or you could try a two-part comp - the background being a panning shot across the statue, then a static shot of the statue overlaid on the 'start' of the statue movement.

Multiple exposures with ICM... Photoshop.. Either way it will likely have to be done in post.

Use Photoshop Puppet Warp and copy to layers as you change it. Then put the layers together. Never tried that but sounds like it will work?
There is another way but I can't remember off hand. I think it's Motion Blur or somesuch.
