How can I get sharper images??

Like others have said, a normal lens will give you it's best performance 2 or 3 stops down. My 1.8 Nikkor is best at 5.6-8.0. Use it wide open when you want a shallow depth of focus or you just don't have enough light for any other setting. (A good tripod is you friend)

I think every image can benefit from some sharpening, I typically apply at least three highpass filters at decreasing radii.

That edit you did is pretty hilarious, I guess that the car has a lot more visual weight now

When looking at other photographers that shoot primarily cars, I love the perspectives and compositions they come up with, and a lot of those perspectives show the car as being diminutive, but still the subject none the less. I know it might not be "technically" correct, but for me I think it can really work in some instances. Even though I am probably bias towards my own work, I love the composition of this picture in particular. It was the sharpness of the image I was unhappy with in the end.
