How can i protect my camera?

I have a canon 20D, i was wondering if anyone may advise me.. how can i protect my camera from snow and wind during outdoor photography?

get a sandwich bag and put the camera in and fasten it. Cut a hole thats a tiny bit too small then put the end of the lens through and screw a skylight filter to the end holding the plastic bag in place.

Put it in your coat when you aren't taking pictures to keep it warmer in the snow.
