For people who sell prints of their photographs (and I'm not talking about Weddings or Senior Portraits, but rather landscapes and such) - what service do you use?

What do you mean by "what service"?

Whether there is a particular company that will print/ship the prints for you. Or if you print them yourself.

thanks :)

I have them printed at my local pro lab. I'm lucky in that I've got the head branch of a very good lab, not too far from me. I then ship or deliver them myself.

I use the same lab BigMike does but a different branch.

When it comes to selling art prints, remember: People can't want what they haven't seen. So you have to find a way to get your images in front of the public. And, of course, the bigger the audience the better.

For a local outlet, check with custom frame shops. They may be willing to offer your work in exchange for a chance to sell framing along with the prints.

Craft shows, festivals, etc are the best way to sell prints imo.

It does take a bit of an investment to set yourself up with a canopy, racks, etc but if you pick quality events it can be quite rewarding financially. Of course, your photography needs to be good. Snapshots and bad prints are not going to cut it there.

There are a couple members who do it and there has been a few threads on the subject.

Woops I didn't see the part about selling. Well I have my work in the local gallery in my town. Its volunteer run and house gets 35% off our sales. Craft shows are good too but take your work to different town craft shows. That has more impact it seems since people around you see it all the time. I actually attended a Christmas function last night and a gentleman there told me about online galleriers broaching European markets. I forget the name of it but I will email him and let you know.

...online galleriers broaching European markets.

Would you buy a piece of art from just seeing it on the web? I wouldn't.

If you want to show in Europe it is better to take your work there. Unfortunately, the cost is prohibitive for a lot of artists. I've shown the work of US friends to my gallery in Europe and there was interest in showing them but the costs involved were such that nothing ever happened.

He shows his stuff online and it sells. If it doesn't cost you anything why not. Just wanted to add, I am totally with cloud about seeing the work but some people I guess don't feel the need too.

interesting, thanks for the replies :)

I have a custom designed website that I sell my nature/landscape prints via the web. I get an order via e-mail: I use Mpix to print them, I make sure they're correct, sign them, and ship them. I recently added a Smugmug site to boost my visibility. Smugmug takes care of printing/shipping. I never see them.

I've done some Arts and Craft shows too. My booth.

I use the local lab in my town. Luckily, they do prints for pros so its very convenient for me. Also the prices are good as well as the quality of their prints. I'd say find a local lab and check out their quality. Its worth it to spend a little extra for quality. Afterall, your photos are a representation of you :)
