How does Nikon handle online repairs?

Turns out I was supposed to send it to their Melville headquarters in New York I missed in the directions, the shop I sent it to is a certified Nikon repair center but had to call and explain I had sent it to the wrong place.

They were more than happy to receive a check in the mail, they have my camera and want to repair and am confident they will do so with their great reviews. The actual headquarters has some pretty bad reviews, so didn't want to chance it.
