What's new

how does your looks affect your photography

That is a good point, I should have more faith in people however it's not exactly that I don't have faith in them.. it's just always been my experience that people are shocked by how I look lol. I know that's a strange reaction, but based on my voice people expect me to look a certain way, I've seen eye's bulge out of someone's head when he first seen me. He even said I wasn't what he expected!

We all know that looks do matter to a degree though. The photo's on here with models seem to never be critiqued as hard as those of ordinary people.

Also, I'll try harder not to smell :P
Me I prefer good attitude than looks. Good looking people trend to forget who the boss really is. While the average joe is more humble and usually very funny because they don't let their looks do all the talking

Men want trophy women...women want men that won't get stolen away????

Its true though that obviously looks have a lot to do with a lot of things in life. We see with our eyes. Its like Jon LaJoie sings, "I can't have sex with your personality. I can't stick my penis in your college degree. I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams. So why are you sharing all this information with me. Its not sexist since I'm singing it in a song. That's right bi***, now take off your thong and show me your genitals."

What do you mean I just digressed the thread?

Yeah, humans are sick...

Honestly the end result matters as long as the photographer is not disguisting looking, so basically common sense.

Would you use the same equipment you use now, knowing an assembly person was fat?

Though I wish it were otherwise, I think that how you look does impact how people perceive you (and hire-ability). I also believe it is more a factor for women than men. For men, I think as long as hygiene is decent and clothing is appropriate, all is good. It all likely subconscious.

I agree w/ you completely on other jobs but not a photographer.
:lmao:Where is e.rose when we need her to set up a poll on her wedding site....lol

I think I'm more thinking.. someone views a professionals site, it's only natural to form an image of them in your mind, so when you finally do meet and the person isn't what you expected would that be awkward, uncomfortable, cause a problem etc.

Also, I do think beautiful women have sort of the same problem. Not a lot of women are going to hire a super sexy photog to do their photos- jealousy shows it's ugly head and sometimes us ladies can be catty. While I've never not hired someone because of how they look, I do have a friend that made it clear she would be looking for a male photographer because she did not want her fiance to be distracted during their engagement shoot by a beautiful woman. She wanted his focus all on her ha. It made me wonder then if that were the case for her is it common, and does it happen with the opposite as well, where people don't want someone who isn't attractive taking their pics because perhaps they think.. 'this person can't even make themselves look good, how are they going to make me look good?" etc..

Hmm, that's true about the beautiful women. As a female, sometimes I'd rather have a less attractive/older female do certain things (photography, spa stuff, etc). You want to be the prettiest woman in these situations, as petty as that sounds.

I also believe it is more a factor for women than men.

Why? I see plenty of young and good looking women with fat bald ugly men but not so many good looking young men with ugly women...

I think that proves my point... People are much less judgmental of male looks then they are of a female's.

Honestly the end result matters as long as the photographer is not disguisting looking, so basically common sense.

Would you use the same equipment you use now, knowing an assembly person was fat?

I agree. But as I mentioned, it is a subconscious response. You can be as virtuous as you want, but most people will still chose the more attractive person over the lesser if qualifications are equal.
