How many bags do you have?

Ive got a tamrac expedition 4 backpack which holds most of my stuff, and a tamrac System 6 that holds everything, and is pretty small, D700 with 24-120 attached, 80-200, 50m, 3 sb-600's.

I rarely use the backpack becuase if I want to get something, I have to stop what i'm doing, take the bag off, open it, do whatever, zip it, put it back on.


Except for lots of hiking, I think backpacks are kind of retarded because it's a 40-step process to get your gear out.

I have 2, one that looks suspiciously close to what Tharmsen has, and another little tiny one that only holds my camera with the 50mm on it, and I have to remove the battery grip and I can't take a flash. Yeah, it doesn't get used. Sometimes I put gaffer's tape and A-clamps in it.

Now if we extend that to lighting stuff, I have about 8 I think since everything has it's own damn little bag, but they're all kept in a big chest thingy. So count that however you will.

i have 3 Tamrac bags, Expedition 5x that holds 2 bodies and 6 additional lenses; AeroSpeed Pack 3385 holds 1 body and 4 additional lenses with quick access side opening, also has laptop compartment and medium sized compartment for day trip supplies. 3rd one is a small bag that holds 1 body with small lens, with an attachment onthe side for a standard tele zoom

I have 3, but I really only use 1.

The one I use is a Domke F2.
(This one houses almost all of my gear - 2 bodies, 7 lenses, and then all of my fliters/batteries/a few rolls of film/cables/etc...)

The others are a Canon backpack (empty) and a really cheap shoulder bag that can hold one body with 2 or 3 lenses (this one houses another body and two lenses, that I haven't used in close to 5 years...).

Lowepro Stealth Reporter 400AW (Large, Not used often after I sold most my Canon primes. Probably should sell)

Lowepro Slingshot 200AW (its ok)

Pelican 1510 (used while in transit) with foam dividers

Large Old Navy messenger bag with Domke inserts (used often) (ALL TIME FAV)

Billingham Hadley classic (used almost daily.. smallish) (love this one)


In general, the Lowepro Slingshot has my 1dMII + 24-105L + 100-400L, Billingham Hadley has a single rangefinder and 2 lenses, and a small nylon cellphone/pda case with my Lumix TZ5 P&S. All three sit by the front door and I just pick one up as I leave to head out.

I have two Lowepros.... a top loader and a slingshot, but looking for a third and a hardcase (pelican) to hold everything for a central location. 3 bodies, 12 lenses, 3 flashes and a slew of other crap that can use a gym bag that I have. I like the Lowepro lines, but checked out several other the other week. Think Tank bags are pretty sweet. Tamrac too.

I have three bags. A large Tamrac shoulder bag which houses all of my major gear. And, a Kata sling bag that holds a single body with lens and an extra lens. I use this when I'm on the run. I've also got a Canon backpack which I sometimes carry in case I need a little more gear, but can't lug around the shoulder bag.

I have three. A monster Tamrac that holds 2 bodies and 8 lenses plus accessories, flashes, filters, flash bracket, etc. It has wheels.

I have a fairly large Canon shoulder bag and I think it also has a waist belt on it. Holds 1 body and 3 or 4 lenses.

And my favorite is my Lowepro Lenstrekker 600 AW. It holds my 600 f/4 IS with my body attached and has a tripod cup and I have added three of there smaller "bags" to the sides to carry teleconverters, flash, and 2 other lenses. Heavy fully loaded, at well over 50 pounds.

I just use my Camelback Ranger pack so one. I have another bag I got from my company I can use as a bag but, it isnt a dedicated camera bag. I never own a dedicated bag.

My first bag purchase was a Tenba which i never use just toooo big!!!!

Then i got a Domke F2 for Christmas, love that, then i came across a Domke J3 on ebay that was too good to pass so i got that. As you can see the Domke's are my fav.

I also have a Crumpler 6MDH and the Crumpler that was the Canon rebate offer a while back, not so keen on the crumplers as i find the fine lint from the interior gets all over the lenses.

LOL, you guys are nuts! I really am probably going to have to get something larger like the bag shown earlier though. I'm really at capacity and can't carry everything I would need for an event such as a wedding (like two bodies and 2 flashes with all the lenses).

I hope you haggled for it! Thats half the fun of yard sales. 90% of the time, people take 50% of what they are asking for stuff below $20. If not, they usually make a counter offer for somewhere around 75%.

I almost never find slr stuff at yard sales. In the last 7 years, I think I have only seen three film slr cameras, and one bag that was fitted for one of the film cameras.

I did get an enlarger once at a yard sale, should have thought about how I was going to get it home first, since we were in a small car that time. fun drive home! hehe.

sams club has a hiking backpack on clearance for $30, im sure that could be used to carry a ton of camera equipment! *smirks*
