Beautiful wood duck! They are known to be a somewhat "private" bird, spending the majority of their time in or around secluded water bodies....actually living in trees. I also have never actually saw in the water. Seen them in trees, rotted out stumps, in flight, but never in the water. I love the shot and I am completely jealous. I can't really give any advice because I am too new to it. Try to find a drake wood duck. They are twice as pretty!

my guess for all those babies is that another duck was perhaps killed and her babies just kind of adopted this mother duck. Sweet shot by the way.
