Not that much since we paid for it ourselves. We kept it simple not just because of the price, that is just the way we are.

Made most of the $$ back that day :wink:

Trip afterwards was expensive but we both enjoyed it.

Vegas sure isn't an option although I truly would have prefered it, by now for sure. I started out just wanting to make her happy and give her anything she wants for her special day but as it comes together I'm becoming more and more miserable and annoyed and now I just want to get it over and done with like a dreaded operation.
Why is it on special days people tend to squander the most? Like with all the excess at Christmas people just lose the plot and go insanely over board. What are they competing with?
A small ceremony, sign the contract, a few drinks with friends that matter and a short honeymoon. What's all the rest of the siht about?

They are the best weddings. A bunch of friends having a good, relaxed time. Don't forget to have one, and only one photo though. The whole group: 'These are the people who celebrated with us'. It's a plus if the Best Man makes an entirely nonsensical speech that no-one understands.

I read this thing the other day...
Says the average price for a wedding in North America is $40,000.
Says the average price for a divorce in North America...is also $40,000...

I thought it was kind of funny...and also pretty darn sad.

I know it's a special day...but let's get serious.

I'm all for getting married on a Hawaiian island, and just having 2 or 3 people there as witnesses and doing the honeymoon built in. Could save a TONNE of money that way...

My buddy from work said the only reason him and his wife got married was because they were dating..and wanted to go to Europe. He said to her..."Wanna get married? We could make at least 10K, and split to Europe for a pretty nice vacation". I guess there's different ways to go about it.

We paid about $5,000. Very nice wedding, about 100 people, little church that my wife grew up attending, nice reception with great food, DJ, Photgrapher, done deal. Not to hard to swallow.

$30 - $40,000?? That my friends, is insane. If a potential bride insists on spending that much money what is the rest of your life together going to be like? Worth questioning in my mind. It's just not rational unless you have money to burn.

Oh and no honey moon here either. We've been married for 7 years and we continue to look forward to it though.

Yup, same with us. We are finally going on our honeymoon this year after 10 years of marriage. Or at least we are going to pretend we are on our honeymoon. Pretend because we will have 2 kids with us

Well I'm happy to say that flights to Greece from Vienna are 9 ex taxes. So Honeymoon should be <400
