How to capture x5 zoomed picture

How to capture x5 zoomed picture instead of it taking the whole picture...I've been getting amazing shots when zoomed, but when I go to take the picture it zooms out and doesn't let me get it. How can I get that x5 or x10 zoom? Its been annoying me a lot, because I've been missing out on lady bug shots.. havent been able to quite get the macro shot i want. I cant figure out why it's teasing me lol, so many shots, but it takes the pic as if I never even pressed zoom.

Oh, I have a t1i btw.

The preview focusing aid made my 18-55mm literally feel like a 2.8L macro - no joke. There has to be a way to save that preview mode. It's just too good to be true.

I've read the manual and I dont see where it says I can take a zoomed picture.

It doesn't say it.. because you cant! That is strictly a Liveview magnification... it has nothing to do with the final image size you get. If something is NOT in your manual, then it definitely won't be something your camera can do!

Hit "print screen" and make a new image in Photoshop and paste the page view in???

Just don't expect the exif to stay intact.

Well, you never thought of cropping the image such that you get the field of view you wish? So take the image, and then use image processing software to zoom in and crop.

Of course you will lose a lot of resolution, but that resolution is missing in your live view as well.

Almost as bad as buying a second camera to take a picture of the live screen of the first one

If you look your images at 100% magnification on computer, you will see what you see at 10x preview, but everywhere in the image, not only in the few pixels that make your camera screen (640x480).

That's not true, I used my copy of Photoshop w/raw - and cropped at x10, doesn't even look close. I'm telling you guys, there has to be a way.. it's just way too amazing. I can't hit "screen print", it's not a computer, it's a camera.
