How to make images print clear

Does transferring images from cd, iPad, flash drive cause poor resolution?

I would almost bet that the issue you describe in post #1 is about the image file size, and not about resolution. File size and resolution are not the same thing.

There are several kinds of 'resolution'.

The 4176 x 2523 pixels is the image resolution.
Pixels per inch is print resolution.
Image resolution and print resolution determine how big a print is.
4176 px / 300 ppi = 13.92 inches.

We'll save inkjet printer resolution for another discussion.

If you want the 4176 pixels to print 20 inches long then 4176 / 20 in - 208.8 (round down - 208) ppi.

Next a 20 x 16 is a 5:4 aspect ratio print. The long side of the print is 1.25x longer than the short side.
with 4176 px by 2532 px the long side is 1.65x longer than the short side.
To get the 4176 x 2532 to the 5:4 aspect ratio of the print the long side can only be 3165 px long so 1011 pixels have to be cropped off the 4176 px long side of the image.

Next will the print be a C-print, an inkjet print, or a offset press print?
Most of the quick lab C-print machines can't be set to more than 250 ppi. The lab uses their RIP (Raster Image Processing) software to make it all work out for the size print you ordered.
Most online labs stake their reputations on fulfilling print orders that require a print be made at as low as 100 ppi.
In other words, they won't make a print at a ppi lower than whatever they have decided is the lowest ppi they will stake their reputation on.

Later in life it can really pay off if you pay/paid attention in math class.
