Like this - to get rid of every one else that doesn't matter, imo.

edit: and I'd do a black and white conversion as well

im not sure i get whats going on to focus on

One of my favorite quotes from one of my photography teachers:

"Crops are for farmers."

Frame it how you want the final product to look like, you'll get higher quality and get better at shooting

If it wasn't dead centre, there'd be more space to play with. I think Compaq's crop was OK, but there's still a random leg in the shot and keeping more of the the top will give you even more random legs.

I've had a go. The only way to get a decent crop was to clone out all the legs and shadows. This was very quick and dirty, so you'd need to take some more time over it than I did - I lost a bit of the perspective on the pavement to the middle and top left hand side of the image, but I think it works better than having random limbs all over the place.

I thought that leg told a good story with the bags and the flag :)

There are two fire fighters there, with a flag. To me it tells a story.... or rather, it makes me think about the story. And I think black and white is better in these shots.

I'm not fond of this conversion, though. Lacks contrast, I think.

I would do one how you first suggested, and one how forkie cropped it.

Twice now I've tried various crops, and in all honesty think the photo should be left as is, or sent to the recycle bin.
