How's the focus?

Testing out my "new" (to me) lens, Tamron 75-300mm AF f/4-5.6 LD.

1) f/4, 1/1000, ISO 125, fl 80mm (120mm)
2) f/4, 1/500, ISO 125. fl 80mm (120mm)
3) "", "", "", ""
4 f/5.6 1/180, ISO 125, fl 300mm (450MM)

Just took these pretty quick to test out, handheld, all manual. They don't seem to have that tack sharp look, but they seem pretty in focus, except the fire hydrant. Are my eyes being biased? Yes, I know they are boring pics

Ok, so no opinions, how about anyone have/had this lens? Did you like it? Any problems? So far it's pretty good.

The first one (I think it's a mailbox) and the fire hydrant are definitely OOF (but not by much), the tree looks nice and sharp in both photos.
