Hudson, NY as seen through an SX-70

Can say much about your pics, but I grew up about 12 miles east of Hudson, still have family there. What made you go to Hudson? I'm guessing the houses are on lower warren street?

The middle one was taken on lower Warren, the ladders were on a building right next to the train tracks near the top of Warren.

Buzz and I often go up to Hudson. Often the impetus is to have pizza at Baba Louie's, but there are also other shops we like to poke around in, and there's a few riverside areas that we keep going back to for pictures. We like to putter around the Hudson Valley on weekends and are more likely to head north rather than south to the city (though we do that as well. That's one thing I love about living here - best of both worlds

)

That's funny, growing up, no one ever wanted to go to Hudson, unless it was necessary. They did quite a job revitalizing Warren street as it used to really run down. Where are you Dutchess county? I grew up on Copake Lake if you have ever been there. Not many people know where it is...

They've done a ton of gentrification on Warren St. Even in the past year, there continue to be a lot of changes. When we first started going there, lower Warren was pretty bare for several blocks past the social services center at the very bottom, which is now closed (it's going to be some kind of agricultural center or something now.) Now there are new stores every time we go. It has not stretched much past Warren, though. Even going a block or two down a side street, and you see a different Hudson.

It's the same thing happening all the way down the river. We were just in Beacon and that too has become a very different sort of town. We saw a "Stay weird, Beacon" sign and had to laugh - since when was Beacon weird? :laughing:

I'm actually in Putnam, but like I said, we often drive north. We've been to Copake, though usually to the falls. Sometimes we'll stop there on our way back from Great Barrington (which is where the other Baba Louie's pizza place is!

) Now you've reminded me to suggest the lake next time we're out and about.

I love the first and third - the weird way the steeple and tall ladder frame the first, and with a little distortion as a kicker, and the blue cast and mood of the third - not crazy about the stuff in the upper left, but I guess that's instant film for you

Great shots; the first one's a good subject for that, and the last one is lovely. I love my SX-70, glad you figured out the kinks you were having with using the film.

The tongue, as I said, made a huge difference, as did learning how that particular camera treats the film. After that, it's just a matter of knowing which subjects are suited to that imperfect, dreamy soft IP look.
