I am in the path in NY. I just have it in my head that it's not going to be THAT bad. The winds are starting to slowly pick up. Our schools are already closed down as of 3pm. I've cleaned up all possible missiles in my yard, put in extra water, wood and the generator... I've got food pre-cooked that we can easily heat up using the generator seeing how my stove is electric. We are prepared for strays who lose their heat. Eh. We'll be fine.

We are 30 mins from Atlantic City. So far 1 tree in the backyard is down. Power is still on for now. We are not allowed out driving for now. Emergency people only are out. My hubby has a google+ hangout with webcams so his team on the west coast can watch the storm. So far so good. But there will be a lot of clean up at the shore.

I did a quick inventory of what's here in case we go dark -- bread, peanut butter, ice cream, a pork roast that's cooked but still simmering for tenderness, beer, rum and vodka. Yep, we're good.

The ADHD finally kicked in - went across street to fill the gas tank. Winds are up, rain is falling at 45 degrees. Decided to park in a different spot, upwind from the pretty maple tree. Still not too bad, but I'm not going back out.

Add chocolate to the list of things available if power takes a holiday.

No pictures (D40 is loaned out and Jeremy won't let me take his), but there should be enough of them on the news & web for sapper6fd.

EDIT: It's dinner time - the roast is done; time to turn it into pulled pork while my loving wife makes the sauce! Stay safe, all.

Woot, I'm still kickin!! The wind is picking up but nothing crazy. Thank god the electricity is still on....lol

Charlie, glad to hear you guys are still doing well!! I understand completely about the ADHD!! I just woke up from a nap...lol There was nothing else to do.

I'm at a Microtel in Geneva NY (because I'm building a power plant) and the power has gone off here at the hotel for about an hour. What kind of NEW Microtel doesn't have a generator? WTF!!!
Add to that the walls of the power plant are 12 inch block that are 18 feet in the air and not yet tied-in which means they'll probably be on the ground in the morning. :/

Okay done complaining now. :thumbup:

I'm on the CT side of the Long Island Sound. Tidal surge supposed to be huge tonight. However, I'm most worried about the last missing person from the HMS Bounty sinking. I've had the privilege of sailing with all the crew members at one point and am close with the Chief Mate. I'm sick to my stomach hoping he's not the one missing.

Me too. We're getting some wind, but nothing major. The creek behind my house is up about 10 feet. It still has another 40 or more to go before it gets to my house level. And that 40 feet is spread over about 2 football fields, so I am good there.
Kids have stocked up on whittling crap. That's going to be a MESS down the road.
We've got cards, beer pong balls and cups and enough beer and wine for us to survive the kids with no TV or internet should it go out and we've set in for the night.
I'm sure our electric will go. There's a tree in front of us that's been marked to come down for 2 years. The other one came down last spring in the snow storm... This one's going to go, I am pretty sure of it.
